Erin and I visited Manassas National Battlefield Park, and decided to take the shorter of the two trails.
The area around Bull Run in Manassas was the site of two battles in the Civil War, most notably one of the opening skirmishes where
"Stonewall" Jackson earned his nickname.
The first Bull Run trail is slightly shorter, and features a walk to the stone bridge, then it circles around through some woods along Bull Run and back to the visitors' center, about 4 miles or so. We did the hike in just a couple of hours, then headed up to the Stonewall Jackson monument for some photos.
Dinner right after the hike was at one of my favorite reasons to go to Manassas, Red Hot and Blue...a great meal of ribs and other smoked meats, southern style
